1919 –  Atatürk’s Army consists  of  remnants from Ottoman Armies who had fought the Italians in Libya in 1911, the Bulgarians, Greeks and Albanians in the Balkans in 1912. They had also fought the British and French in Gallipoli, the British in Iraq, Palestine, Yemen and Syria, in territories all of which had been within the Ottoman Empire’s borders. Finally, the Ottoman “Shadow” Government intending to rule the country signed an Armistice and surrendered to the Allies in 1918.

The Sultan, whom was also the Caliph, lived in İstanbul under strict control of the French, British, Italian, American and Greek occupants. The Greeks occupied İzmir and were pushing towards Ankara. The Italians occupied Antalya. The French occupied Syria. The British occupied Iraq, Palestine and Jordan.

1920 – A young businessman called Muzaffer Halim, using an “official” false passport, set out from İstanbul to Ankara. His journey took fifteen days, first by boat to İnebolu on the Black-Sea, then by horse-cart to Ankara. He was helping smuggle arms from the Ottoman Empire’s stocks guarded by the occupation forces in İstanbul. These arms were to be used by Atatürk’s Liberation Army to reconquer the country in order to set up the Young Republic of Turkey within its present day borders; renouncing to the once mighty Empire.

1935 – Muzaffer Halim registers “NEYZİ” as his
family’s surname to meet part of the westernization movement of the new republic. He is now called Muzaffer Halim Neyzi.
The business activities of Muzaffer Halim, the company, continue in Ankara, İstanbul and İzmir (see yellow letter head).

1942 – Ahmet Halim Neyzi, one of Muzaffer Halim’s three sons graduates from Purdue University (Indiana, U.S.A.) with a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering. It is the 20th Anniversary of the Turkish Republic.

Ahmet H. Neyzi began his carreer by working for Ralph M. Parsons Co. (A Los Angeles, Cal. based engineering and contruction firm)’s Ankara office to build the first Turkish refinery in Batman. In 1956 the company decides to establish their European headquarters. Ahmet H. Neyzi is assigned to survey various cities; he recommends Paris and takes charge of the new office. Operations begin in 1957. Other offices open later in London and Frankfurt. In addition to erecting refineries in Germany, Senegal, Iraq and France, the company completed copper smelters, pipelines as well as Nato projects in Paris and for the U.S. Armed Forces  in Turkey.
1967  –  Ahmet  Halim Neyzi returns  to Turkey  to
establish his own business in the form of an ownership company called KEP Ticaret (see blue letter head), which can be identified as the continuation of the Muzaffer Halim company.

1978 – Halim Neyzi son of Ahmet Halim graduates from the University of Akron (Ohio, U.S.A.) with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

1982 – Halim Neyzi returns to Turkey to join his father’s business, the ownership company KEP Trading becomes a corporation and forms the family business’  third link. The company is now called KEP International Trade and Representation Company. It is the 60th Anniversary of the Turkish Republic.

In 1928 Turkey adopted the European alphabet such that Halim Neyzi, the Turkish Republic’s third generation did not have to worry about learning the Arabic alphabet.
He had begun his carreer by working for Badger, Inc. (a Cambridge, Mass. based process, engineering and construction firm now called Raytheon Engineers and Constructors) as a heat exchanger engineer. Upon his return to Turkey he expands the family business into Marine Electronics, Defense and Power Generation activities.

1990 – The trip from Istanbul to Ankara now only takes 40 minutes by plane. Automatic telephone exchanges interconnect even the remotest village to the rest of the world.

The country is in full development :

In the 1920’s Ankara’s population is about 20.000
In 1998 it is well over 2.000.000

In the 1920’s Turkey’s  population is about 14.000.000
In 1998 it is well over 64.000.000.
